Valmie Resources Inc (OTCBB:VMRI) has quickly turned into one of the most talked about names among penny stock lovers. This comes as the stock has rocketed up the charts on favorable coverage from Emerging Markets Report and Small Cap Sentinel. The move real kicked into over gear when Emerging Markets Report was able to cleverly tie a story in Forbes on Wal-Mart testing drones in their warehouses. The story was picked up on Yahoo! Finance and got investors excited about Valmie.Valmie Resources describes itself as “a U.S. company actively pursuing opportunities for the commercialization of leading edge products and services in the rapidly expanding technology industry. Valmie brings operating talent, tools, and leadership to emerging companies in these sectors, promoting industry awareness and developing economically sustainable partnerships while increasing shareholder value.”Valmie has received a Section 333 Exemption from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to perform commercial drone activities within the U.S. National Airspace System. With professional grade equipment and pilots, Valmie intends to use the exemption to commercially operate unmanned aerial systems for agricultural applications, search and rescue operations, power line and pipeline inspections, infrastructure surveying, and imaging to increase the effectiveness of data collection, storage, and analysis.Valmie’s joint venture partner is AeroLift eXpress, a privately held tech start-up that offers increased productivity, reduced operating costs and lower risks by providing elite unmanned aerial transport to the world’s most inaccessible locations. AeroLift uses uses military grade vehicles and systems. In addition to its focus area of offshore delivery, the company offers other unmanned aerial services such as infrastructure surveying, power line and pipeline inspections and aerial imaging. Its unmanned aerial transport service has the capacity to deliver payloads of up to 14 pounds at an operating radius of 250 miles. Last month, Valmie debuted AeroLift eXpress last month at the Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) in Houston. On August 15, AeroLift eXpress will be a guest speaker at the Hurricanes, Major Disasters, Coastal Protection, and Rapid Recovery Conference at the University of Houston. The major annual event is sponsored by the Texas Hurricane Center for Innovative Technology and members of the University of Houston Civil, Environmental and Industrial Engineering Departments. The conference is used to update the public, emergency managers and others who play a critical role in hurricane and other disaster preparedness roles. Presentations include preparedness, loss mitigation, evacuation, coastal protection, transportation issues, rapid recovery and new technologies that could influence daily municipal operations. AeroLift’s presentation will include descriptions of its military grade unmanned aerial systems (UAS) technology and the significant advantages that it offers over manned aircraft and during the critical hours following a hurricane strike or other disaster. At the same all of this was going on for Valmie, the FAA finalized the rules for commercial drones. The rules will become effective in August and will allow the use of UAVs weighing up to 55 pounds, traveling as fast as 100 mph for non-hobbyist operations, and flying in an altitude no higher than 400 feet. Operations are limited to daytime, line-of-sight use, in which the pilot can see that UAV at all times. Operations are allowed in uncontrolled airspace (Class G) without air traffic control (ATC) permission, but require ATC permission if flying in controlled airspace (Classes B, C, D, and E), the airspace around commercial airports. In one fell swoop, the FAA created an $82 billion industry, of which Valmie is apart of. This will allow Wal-Mart, Amazon and other companies to pursue not only using drones in their warehouses, but also door-to-door delivery. We are firsthand witnessing the birth of a new multi-billion dollar industry.Currently trading with a market cap of $122 million, VMRI currently has no revenues and a history of losses. However, this is not like other venture capital plays that become billion dollar companies overnight. With the green light from the FAA, we believe there will be no shortage of major players chasing Valmie for its drones and also to get in on the action in terms of partnerships and investment. Buckle your seat belt because liftoff could just for be starting for Valmie. We will be updating Insider Financial as soon as we know more.
