Catalyst Pharmaceutical Partners, Inc. (NASDAQ:CPRX) on Friday narrowed its net loss for Q3, but still fell short of analyst estimates. For the quarter ended September 30, 2014, Catalyst reported a GAAP net loss of $5 million or $0.07 per basic and diluted share, compared with a GAAP net loss of $5.9 million or $0.13 per basic and diluted share, for the same period in 2013. Non-GAAP net loss was $4 million, or $0.06 per share, compared to a net loss of $3.2 million, or $0.07 per share, a year earlier. Analysts expected a loss of $0.05 per share, according to Capital IQ estimates. Research and development expenses for the third quarter of 2014 were $2.89 million, little changed from $2.80 in Q3 of 2013. As a development-stage biopharmaceutical company, Catalyst had no revenue to report in Q3. Catalyst Pharmaceutical Partners, Inc. (NASDAQ:CPRX) shares are down 1% to $2.80 in late-morning trading.Mandalay Digital Group Inc (NASDAQ:MNDL) is lower after it reported late Thursday that for Q2 ended Sept. 30, 2014, its loss was wider than expected while revenue missed analysts' estimates; the company also said it has acquired independent mobile user acquisition network, Appia. Mandalay Digital Group Inc (NASDAQ:MNDL) shares are down 14.24% at $2.95 midday Friday, near the 52-week low of $2.28. Sales for the quarter were $5.5 million, below the Thomson Reuters mean for $6.98 million. Loss from operations was $0.14 per share. Estimates, usually less items, was for a loss of $0.11 per share.It also said it agreed to buy Appia. MNDL says it will issue at closing a number of shares and stock options to purchase its common stock equivalent to $100 million less Appia's net debt and transaction expenses (subject to working capital adjustments), at an agreed-upon value for MNDL common stock of $4.50 per common share. Based on an estimate of Appia's net debt at closing, including transaction fees and expenses, Appia stockholders would receive in the aggregate approximately 19 million shares, representing pro forma ownership of the combined company of approximately 33%. MNDL is acquiring Appia's equity for $65 million based on its closing stock price as of November 12 of $3.40. The transaction is expected to close in Q115. MNDL, which operates through its Digital Turbine subsidiary, intends to change its name to Digital Turbine in January or at the transaction's close if earlier.Cosi Inc (NASDAQ:COSI) is higher after the company posted in Thursday's after hours session mixed financial results for Q3, including a wider-than-expected loss, while revenue topped analysts' forecasts despite a year-over-year decline. Cosi Inc (NASDAQ:COSI) shares are up 11.41% at $1.73 near midday Friday with a 52-week range of $0.94 - $2.69. The fast casual restaurant company reported Q3 net loss of $4.15 million or $0.20 loss per share, compared with the prior-year period's $2.45 million or $0.14 loss per share. Excluding the impact of one-time costs of $530,000 incurred during Q3 2014, the net loss was $3.62 million or $0.18 loss per share. The Capital IQ analyst estimate is for $0.10 loss per share.Revenue was $19.21 million, down from $21.41 million in the same quarter last year. The year-over-year decline in revenues was driven by the decline in comparable company-owned restaurant sales of 1.5%, the closure of 13 company-owned as well as the net closure of one franchise location during and subsequent to the same quarter in 2013. Analysts were expecting revenue of $17.30 million.
