Gilead Sciences, Inc. (NASDAQ:GILD), a research-based biopharmaceutical company, said Thursday that it has submitted a New Drug Application (NDA) to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for an investigational, once-daily single tablet regimen containing elvitegravir 150 mg, cobicistat 150 mg, emtricitabine 200 mg and tenofovir alafenamide (TAF) 10 mg (E/C/F/TAF) for the treatment of HIV-1 infection in adults. The data submitted in the NDA support the use of the regimen among adult and adolescent treatment-naïve HIV individuals, virologically suppressed patients who switch regimens and those with renal impairment.TAF is an investigational, novel prodrug of tenofovir, the active agent in GILD's Viread (tenofovir disoproxil fumarate). TAF is a more targeted form of tenofovir than Viread that has demonstrated high antiviral efficacy at a dose that is 10 times lower, as well as an improved renal and bone safety profile. Gilead Sciences, Inc. (NASDAQ:GILD) plans to submit a regulatory application for E/C/F/TAF in the European Union by the end of 2014. Shares have a 52-week range of $63.50 - $116.83.Franco-Nevada Corporation (NYSE:FNV) reported modestly weaker quarterly net income, but stronger revenues, matching analyst estimates. After the markets closed on Wednesday, the gold-focused royalty and stream company said it had third quarter net income of $33.2 million or $0.22 per share, down from $35.3 million or $0.24 in the same period last year. On an adjusted basis, Q3 net income was $34.5 million or $0.23 per share. Analysts expected EPS of $0.22 per share, according to Capital IQ estimates.Revenue rose to $107.6 million from $98.8 million last year, also matching projections. Franco-Nevada Corporation (NYSE:FNV) increased its gold equivalent ounces guidance for fiscal 2014 to the 260,000 to 270,000 range. The Toronto-based company also declared a fourth quarter dividend of $0.20 per share, unchanged from the previous quarter, to be paid on Dec. 18, 2014 to shareholders of record on Dec. 4, 2014. FNV shares closed at $44.98 on Wednesday in New York, with a 52-week range of $36.92 to $61.47.PhotoMedex Inc (NASDAQ:PHMD) reported a larger loss in Q3 than had been predicted by the Street and as its revenue fell short of the consensus. PhotoMedex Inc (NASDAQ:PHMD) is trading near the lower end of the 52-week range between $2.52 and $16.82. The provider of integrated disease management and aesthetic solutions to dermatologists, professional aestheticians and consumers said it reported a non-GAAP loss of $0.27 in the quarter, down from a profit of $0.11 a year ago and compared to the $0.23 loss expected by analysts polled by Capital IQ. Revenue rose 17% to $53.7 million while the Street had expected $60.8 million. The reported net loss was $14.9 million or $0.80 per share compared to a profit of $886,000 or $0.04 the year earlier.
