Airborne Wireless Network Inc (OTCMKTS:ABWN) has been one of the most active names since hitting the OTC Markets earlier this month. Shares have gone on quite a run from its support base of $0.40 a share. Helping to drive this activity has been a series of press releases from the company and a number of newsletters recommending ABWN to its subscribers. After making new highs last week, will the stock break through the $1 level next?Airborne Wireless Network started August off by completing the acquisition of Patent Number US 6,285,878 B1 and the Trademark "INFINITUS SUPER HIGHWAY". These acquired assets are to serve as a blueprint and road map for the company to develop its "Airborne Wireless Network". The company intends to create a high-speed broadband airborne wireless network by linking commercial aircraft in flight. Each aircraft participating in the network will act as an airborne repeater or router sending and receiving broadband signals from one aircraft to the next creating a digital superhighway in the sky. The company intends for its network to be a high-speed broadband internet pipeline to improve coverage connectivity currently lacking.

Airborne Wireless Network does not intend to provide retail customer coverage to end users, but, instead, will act as a wholesale carrier with target customers, such as internet service providers and telephone companies. Currently, the world's connectivity is achieved by use of undersea cables, ground based fiber and satellites. The company believes that Airborne Wireless Network's airborne digital highway is the logical solution to fill the world's connectivity void. Airborne Wireless Network, once developed, should provide low cost, high speed connectivity to rural areas, island nations, ships at sea, oil platforms, in addition to connectivity to commercial and private aircraft in flight.

ABWN also has an agreement with Concept Development Inc. (CDI), an aerospace engineering design and manufacturing firm. CDI will assist the company in the FAA system certification process. CDI has provided its services in the past to companies such as Boeing, Northrop Grumman, Rockwell Collins and L3 Communications. CDI also has extensive experience with in-flight entertainment systems with companies such as Thales (formally LiveTV) and Lumexis.

The company has engaged CDI's expertise to define the on-board system design and assist with all aspects of integrating the company's Airborne Broadband Digital Super Highway onto aircraft. This will include preparing system drawings, designing and manufacturing of the on-board hardware and components, and providing software development support. ABWN considers this agreement a key element to its success and has provided CDI the option to share in ABWN's success.

ABWN has also made a number of key hires to achieve its goals. Packard Bell co-founder Alex Sandel is chairman of the company's Advisory Board. The company said in the press release:

As a large portion of the Company's success depends on processors and software, Mr. Sandel's experience, leadership, and proven "concept to success" track record should be a tremendous asset to the Company. Mr. Sandel's ability to locate and nurture relationships with technical as well as financial businesses should certainly benefit the Company, as it designs and builds its widely anticipated Airborne Wireless Network, a Digital Super Highway in the sky; a network that does not rely on satellites.

The company has also retained C. Neal Monte, as its lead FAA Designated Engineering Representative. He is considered one of the most experienced and well respected experts in the industry. His background includes work with air-frame manufacturers such as Boeing, McDonnell Douglas, and Airbus Industries. Monte will be spearheading the FAA certification process for the company's, "Airborne Digital Super Highway."

Lastly, ABWN appointed airborne wireless communications pioneer Marius de Mos as its Vice President of Technical Affairs and Development. He has an extensive background in worldwide telecommunications, ranging from the development and commissioning of long and short-range terrestrial systems, to satellite and cutting-edge airborne technologies. Many of these systems were installed globally and are/were owned and/or managed by local or central governments and well-known companies such as GTE, Verizon, Motorola, AT&T, UK-based Cable and Wireless and others. His past experience makes him one of the first pioneers of today's airborne in-cabin radio systems, which paved the way for wireless in-flight entertainment, WiFi systems and the use of cellular technology in flight.

Currently trading with a market cap of $72 million, ABWN is an exciting story among small caps. The company just entered into an agreement with its current President, J. Edward Daniels, to cancel the issuance of 80,000,000 of those 84,100,000 shares of the company's common stock then held by him. As a result of this issuance cancellation, the total number of outstanding shares of common stock of the company has been reduced to 74,097,796. Investors need to keep in mind, however, that the company needs to boost its financials. In the latest quarterly report ending May 31, ABWN reported ZERO revenues, a net loss of $14k, NO cash, and $33k in total liabilities. We will be updating our subscribers as soon as we know more.
